Transforming Practice - New Book on Trans Health

Dear T.R.A.N.S.,

Looking over your tumblr it’s clear that you have a strong interest and focus in the health and well being of trans men. In our experience trans men often have to bear the burden of educating many of their health care providers about pertinent (and often impertinent) transgender health issues themselves.

Today we at Ethica Press are launching Transforming Practice: Life Stories of Transgender Men that Change How Health Providers Work, the first book of it’s kind to demonstrate how health providers might better support those questioning or struggling with gender transition on the trans-masculine spectrum. We think this book is important to the T.R.A.N.S. audience and we’d love it if you would share information about its release. The book is now available on our website and Amazon.com, and we’ll soon be launching a Kindle version.

http://www.transformingpractice.net

A trans-ally, social worker and current Medical student, Marcus Greatheart was inspired to write the book after discovering how common it was to find discouraging and despair-filled accounts of gender transition among his trans male friends. In response, he interviewed satisfied, post-transition trans men about the factors and circumstances that contributed to their experiences with gender transition in order to understand what worked well and share it with those initiating or still in the transition process.

If you’re interested in delving deeper into this topic with your audience we would love to assist you by providing additional press material, setting up one-on-one interviews with Marcus, or writing a guest post for your blog at your request.

Many thanks,

Geoff Watland

Hi there! Just wanted to share with you guys The Levamentum Project, an organization run by my buddy Alex. Its main goal is to help trans* youth with their transitions. Part of how it achieves this is through its online store which sells trans* essentials at a VERY low cost (the lowest ive ever seen for 90% of this stuff). All revenue goes back to the trans* community.
Not only does TLP sell FTM supplies, but they will also be adding MTF supplies to their shop very soon. And anything they don’t already have, you can suggest to them and they will try to make it available in the shop. Here is a quick catalog of some of the things they carry

Flexy Pack and Play

They also have a full line of hard packers(starting at $16) in various sizes and colors. Most of their items come in multiple skin tones.

They will soon be adding underworks binders to their store

Hey! Could you maybe add the Transgender Commission and Tranarchy to the list of Student Organizations? Both are a part of the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities (which also just recently got trans-inclusive undergraduate health plan coverage!).

Thank you for this wonderful blog.

The Levamentum Project

Hi there! Im  Alex a 17 year old transman from sunny san diego and I would like to tell you about an organization I set up called The Levamentum Project. The Levamentum Project is a new organization designed to help transgender youth with their transitions. Some of the features of the project include;

-          A binder and packer exchange program

-          A penpal program

-          A newsletter that updates followers about the program and provides special discounts at the store.

-Inexpensive Transition Items;

-Binders: $16/$26

-Packers: $6-7.50

-Packing Underwear: $10

-STPs: $20/$25

-Silicone Breast Forms: $21-36

-Travel Breast Forms: $15

There are many more things we would like to add to the program and many improvements that need to be made. The only way these things can happen are if we gain more supporters and spread the word as much as possible. The program does not have any form of funding at the moment other than donations. In order to keep this program up and running we need your help! We are asking you to spread the word to all of your followers and to check out the program for yourselves. Thank You for your help and support.

-Alex

New Binder Exchange Blog

We at Binder Exchange try to match people with extra binders to people that need binders. We keep a log of all binders up for grabs and a log all people in need.

We will also try to pair people that would like to trade binders. We keep a log of all people in need of a trade.
